130406 Super Junior Ranked in Forbes’ “Top 10 Famous Koreans”

After becoming a global star with ‘Gangnam Style,’ Psy came in at #1 on Forbes’ list of ‘Top 10 Famous Koreans.’

Because Psy’s music video was the first video on YouTube to reach a billion views, he was given the number one spot. The amount of money he made with his hit song was also a factor.

The next spot was taken by Girl’s Generation. With the immense popularity of ‘Twinkle’ and the high number of commercials (CFs) spot by the girls, they were ranked #2.

Young gymnast Son Yeon Jae, who ranked 5th at last year’s London Olympics, and actor Kim Soo Hyun from ‘The Moon that Embraces the Sun’ were each ranked #3 and #4 respectively.

With their mini album ‘Alive’ and special album ‘Still Alive,’ Big Bang swept up number one spots on online music charts and was ranked 5th. On last year’s Mnet Asian Music Awards, Big Bang was given the Album of the Year award.***

Korea’s marine boy Park Tae Hwan, actor Song Joong Ki who received lots of love for his movie ‘Wolf Boy,’ and nation’s little sister IU followed suit.

After news about figure queen Kim Yeon Ah’s plan to retire after the 2014 Winter Olympics, she was ranked #9 and Super Junior, who came back with their 6th album, was ranked at #10.

Forbes’ rank was based off of the income, number of CFs, number of Internet searches, and etc. of Korean singers, athletes, and etc.

***supposed to be Artist of the Year. Super Junior actually won in the category for Album of the Year. The article writer was inaccurate.
